KMH Engineering provides detailed design of 115kv transmission line extension to Esker substation for Musslewhite Mine.
The scope of this project consisted of extending the existing 115kv transmission line an additional 3km. The installation of an optical ground wire to serve as lightning protection, and communications to the New Esker substation were also provided. Design of the line is scheduled to be finished in May 2010 with construction slated to begin in the summer of 2010.
Highlights of this project include:
- Replacement of a structure in the existing 115kv line to accommodate the extension.
- Replacement of a structure in an existing 4.16kv line to incorporate a shared pole crossing for the 115kv line.
- Mine haul road crossing.
- Assessing the impact of the line on the required clearances of the mine site's airstrip.
