October 21, 2003: KMH has received an order to provide detailed E&I design for controls upgrades to two 34" Beloit softwood refiners. Design includes specific energy controls integrated into a new GE 90-30 PLC and existing Metso XD DCS system. The softwood refiners upgrade follows the success of the hardwood refiners control upgrade provided by KMH in 2002. The new system will improve pulp freeness control and provide a consistent operator interface for operation of the refiner. Startup is scheduled for Jan 2004.
